Content Management for the Environment

The Wales Environment Trust has recently launched its new web site. The site, designed and produced by Learning Industries, has been developed to provide a highly flexible portal to promote the Trust and to support the delivery of its projects and services.

Wales Environment Trust

The Wales Environment Trust creates new markets for recyclates, such as glass, wood, plastics, metals, bio-degradable materials and end-of-life products such as cars and fridges, by developing economical and sustainable ways to reuse these materials for business benefit, while minimising waste destined for landfill sites.

The Trust operates a number of key projects and services aimed at generators, reprocessors and consumers of waste, local authorities and government agencies; each having varying priorities and dealing with different waste materials. In order to provide an effective service to this broad client base the Trust provides a wide range of high quality support, advice, consultancy and information. The new web site has been designed to support these activities and to help the Trust in its mission to create the cultural change necessary to transform waste disposal into sustainable resource management.

The new web site uses a dedicated content management system (CMS) to enable the Trust to maintain the site; to expand the site in the future; and to manage the delivery of rapidly changing and transient information, such as news, events, profiles and case studies. In addition, micro-sites can be created to provide a self-contained web presence for the larger projects operated by the Trust.

The new site was launched on Thursday 2nd June, along with a further micro-site supporting the Developing Markets for Recycled and Secondary Aggregates project.
