e-Tutorial for Higher Education Procurement

character from CuPID courseLearning Industries have recently completed the production of an online tutorial for users of a new web-based procurement database.

The Central Universities Purchasing Information Database, or CuPID for short, provides buyers within UK higher education institutions with access to information about purchase agreements, contacts, suppliers and pricing. CuPID covers commodities from stationery, car hire, courier and postal services, to suppliers of furniture, lab equipment, advertising services and IT.

Learning Industries were commissioned to produce an online tutorial to guide users through the system, demonstrate how to use its main features and to explain the information provided by the system. The ‘e-tutorial' uses Learning Industries' Web-Based e-Learning Delivery Shell as a framework for the IT training package. Content has been designed to be brief and informative, guiding buyers through the most commonly used search procedures.

This project demonstrates the versatility of Learning Industries' approach to e-learning, particularly when applied to the production of user training for software products and other IT systems. The company has a long history in this field and has produced packages ranging from user guides through to NVQ training packages.

CuPID is being developed by Procureweb, an organisation providing procurement tools and systems to the higher education sector and research councils. Learning Industries have worked closely with Procureweb during the design and development of the package to ensure that the tutorial meets the needs of the sector. The CuPID system is currently undergoing beta testing and will be released, along with the Buyer e-Tutorial, shortly.
