NHS Wales Corporate Induction e-Learning

NHSLearning Industries are working in partnership with a consortium of Welsh NHS Trusts to develop a suite of e-learning modules to provide induction training to both clinical and non-clinical staff.

Following on from other successful projects within the health sector, Learning Industries were asked to develop a project to provide a flexible package of induction e-learning materials that could be integrated with existing corporate induction training programmes.

The package will incorporate four e-learning modules; three covering a range of induction topics under the broad headings of Corporate Employment, Working Safely and Patient Care, with a further module covering manual handling theory, compling with the NHS Wales Manual Handling Passport Scheme.

Eleven Welsh NHS Trusts have so far committed to the project, including Velindre, who provide specialist health services across Wales, and the Welsh Ambulance Service, both of whom see additional value in the project due to their own geographical spread across the Principality. The project will enable existing induction training to be redeveloped and induction programmes to be modernised to better serve the requirements of staff working within the health sector.

Learning Industries will be working with subject matter experts and an editorial team assembled from the partner Trusts as well as other statutory and professional bodies. The project is also being run in partnership with the NHSiW Statutory and Mandatory Training programme, lead by Dr Robert Llewellyn Davies MBE, in order to ensure that the coordination of training across the sector.

The project will be developed during 2005, to be delivered to all partner Trusts by the end of the year. For more information about this project please contact Dr Robert M Lloyd (rob@learningindustries.com).
