Data Protection and Whistle Blowing

Data Protection e-Learning

Leading on from the development of the Money Laundering e-learning module, Learning Industries have recently completed two additional modules for data protection and whistle blowing.

The Data Protection e-Learning module introduces data protection and the Data Protection Act; describes data types, principals of data handling and fair processing; outlines the rights of the data subject; details procedures for data processing and data transfer; and illustrates the application of those procedures in typical scenarios.

The Whistle Blowing e-Learning module introduces the issue of whistle blowing and the Public Interest Disclosure Act; details policies and procedures for whistle blowing; describes employee and management responsibilities; and describes the circumstances and procedures for external reporting.

The three modules, developed for a leading financial services company, have been designed to assist in the delivery of training on issues of regulation and compliance. Each module incorporates formal assessment, which users must pass in order to demonstrate their knowledge and competence on each topic. The e-learning modules are supported by the Learning Industries e-Learning Administration System, enabling managers to monitor the delivery of the training and to record the attainment of individual users. The system can be used to measure and report compliance against training requirements, for individuals, departments or for the company as a whole.

The e-learning has initially been used to train 300 employees in the company's UK head office.
