Administration for Drug Chart Module

Drug Chart e-Learning

Following the success of the All-Wales In-Patient Medication Administration Record e-Learning package, the All-Wales Chief Pharmacists Group has now jointly commissioned the Learning Industries’ e-Learning Administration System to provide user tracking and recorded assessment, to support the delivery of the training within individual NHS Trusts.

The All-Wales In-Patient Medication Administration Record (Drug Chart) e-Learning package was part of a wider project to introduce a standardised drug chart and common prescription writing standards throughout all NHS Trusts in Wales. The project won the UKCPA / Pfizer Patient Safety Award 2005 and has received considerable interest from across the UK.

The e-learning package was initially delivered in a standalone format for use in all hospitals across Wales. Initially designed to bring practicing clinicians up to speed with the format, layout and requirements for completion of the new drug chart, the package has also been found to be effective in induction training and pre-clinical undergraduate teaching.

As a result, pharmacy departments now need to monitor the delivery of the training, record participation and measure the attainment of individual learners through the built-in assessments. The Learning Industries e-Learning Administration system adds user tracking and recorded assessment to the package; enabling managers to measure uptake, filter and report overall results and analyse individual training records.

The revised e-learning package and e-Learning Administration System are currently being installed in 12 NHS Trusts across Wales.
