NHS Corporate Induction Pilots Begin
Learning Industries has begun the roll out of the NHS Wales Corporate Induction e-Learning package. The package is being piloted in several Trusts across Wales with a view to a full launch and national roll out early in the New Year.
Learning Industries have been working in partnership with 12 NHS Trusts within Wales to produce an e-learning package covering the key aspects of Corporate Induction. The package incorporates four e-learning modules, covering a wide range of topics at the induction level. The first two modules, Corporate Employment and Patient Care, are currently being installed and piloted within eight of the partner Trusts.
The modules cover topics including: Governance, Equality & Diversity, Bullying & Harassment, Data Protection & Confidentiality, Freedom of Information, Records Management, Knowledge & Skills Framework (KSF), Energy, Waste & Environment Module, Customer Service, Communication, Patient Consent, Child Protection, Vulnerable Adults, Food Safety and Welsh Awareness.
The Corporate Induction package has taken over eighteen months to develop and has included contributions from over 150 individual subject matter experts from across NHS Wales. The package has also been produced in partnership with a wide range of specialist All-Wales NHS Groups and Committees, providing strategic coordination of the content.
The project, originally commissioned by a consortium of training managers from the 12 Partner Trusts, now has the backing of the Welsh Assembly Government. Learning Industries are also working with the National Leadership & Innovation Agency for Healthcare, where the Corporate Induction e-Learning package is being used as a pilot for the development of a national NHS Wales e-Learning Service.
The remaining modules in the package, Working Safely and Manual Handling, are currently being finalised. These modules include: Health & Safety, Risk Management, Violence & Aggression, Security, Incident Reporting, Fire Safety and Manual Handling Theory. Additional sections on Infection Control and Countering Fraud are also being added to the package in the final stage of the development project.
