Rapid Tranquillisation e-Learning

Rapid tranquillisation is often required in response to urgent and challenging situations. However the rapid tranquillisation procedure and the medication used are not without risk and can be distressing for the service user. 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust have commissioned Learning Industries to produce an e-learning package for Rapid Tranquillisation.

The Rapid Tranquillisation e-Learning package will provide specific training in the administration, medication, monitoring, and the risks and side effects of rapid tranquillisation. The package will describe the requirements, responsibilities and appropriate procedures for administering medication for the control of violent and aggressive behaviour; highlighting good practice and illustrating the potential consequences of errors and mismanagement.

Learning Industries are working with clinical and pharmacy staff from the 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust to develop the e-learning course, which will be delivered to all staff that prescribe or are involved in the administration or monitoring of rapid tranquillisation.

Learning Industries are also delivering a customised version of their Prescribing and Administration e-Learning package to work alongside and complement the Rapid Tranquillisation course.
