description:

The Data Protection and Confidentiality e-Learning module is designed to provide NHS and other healthcare staff with the knowledge required to effectively manage healthcare information. The package covers the legislation, requirements and obligations for recording and storing personal data (both of staff and patients) securely and confidentially and for using, disclosing and sharing that information appropriately.

The package covers a range of key topics including Data Protection, Information Security, Confidentiality, Human Rights, Caldicott and Disclosing and Sharing of Information. Using a range of illustrated scenarios, the package also demonstrates common errors and aspects of bad practice and their potential consequences.

Originally developed in collaboration with Informing Healthcare and the All Wales Information Governance Managers Group to provide training to all NHS Wales staff involved in the use and management of healthcare information. The package is now available for licensing and customisation by other organisations and can be used as the basis for the development of localised packages, designed to meet similar requirements in other healthcare organisation.

The package can be used with the Learning Industries e-Learning Administration System to provide learner management, user tracking and recorded assessment or can be packaged for delivery in third-party SCORM-compliant Learning Management Systems.
