Updated Prescribing and Administration e-Learning
Learning Industries have been working with the All Wales Clinical Pharmacy Sub-Group of the Welsh Chief Pharmacists Committee to update the All Wales Prescribing and Administration e-Learning package, to coincide with the release of an updated In-Patient Medication Administration Record (drug chart) in Wales.
The original All Wales In-Patient Medication Administration Record e-Learning package was released in September 2004 to support the standardisation of the drug chart and associated prescribing standards across Wales. The package was designed to introduce the new drug chart and to provide training in prescribing and recording the administration of medication for the (then) 14 Welsh NHS Trusts that had previously all used different in-patent prescribing procedures.
Since the launch of the original e-learning package, Learning Industries have worked with a large number of acute and mental health NHS Trusts from across the UK, as well as healthcare providers in other countries, to develop customised versions of the package, in each case, adapted to reflect the drug chart and prescribing standards in use within each location. Over the course of this work the company have developed considerable specialist knowledge and expertise in this area and have progressively refined and improved the Prescribing and Administration e-Learning package. Significantly the focus of the package has grown from the original objective of retraining existing clinicians to also support the induction of new clinical staff. The package has also been extended to provide enhanced training to nursing staff who administer medication.
To coincide with the release of a new version of the All Wales In-Patient Medication Administration Record, Learning Industries were commissioned to update the Welsh e-learning package, to both reflect the new drug chart and also to incorporate the improvements that have been made within the e-learning package.
The updated All Wales Prescribing and Administration e-Learning package is now being rolled out to all Welsh Health Boards, to support the introduction of the revised drug chart within Welsh hospitals.
