Rapid Tranquillisation e-Learning for West London

Learning Industries are working with West London Mental Health NHS Trust to produce a version of the Rapid Tranquillisation e-Learning package to deliver training to the Trust’s clinical staff.

Mental health service users can sometimes become behaviourally disturbed and may need help to calm down. Rapid tranquilisation uses medication to calm the service user and enable them to re-engage with therapeutic interventions, in order to reduce the risks of harm to themselves and others.

The Learning Industries Rapid Tranquillisation e-Learning module provides training on the safe and appropriate use of rapid tranquillisation within mental health settings. The module covers the planning, precautions, assessment, escalation and decision to use rapid tranquillisation; the medication selection, monitoring and management of adverse effects.

Learning Industries are working with pharmacy and training staff from West London Mental Health NHS Trust to produce a version of the package customised to match the precise detail of the Trust’s policies and procedures; rapid tranquillisation procedures; available medications; monitoring and incident reporting processes.
