National Launch of High Risk Medications e-Learning
With sponsorship from Pfizer Ireland, Learning Industries and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Dublin have developed a new e-learning package for High Risk Medications (Drug Safety). A The package will be officially launched and a National Access Programme for Ireland announced at the Glandore Buiness Centre, Dublin on Friday 17th February 2012.
High risk medications are medicines that carry a heightened risk of causing significant patient harm when they are used in error. The High Risk Medications (Drug Safety) e-Learning package raises awareness of medication errors and how they occur; discusses the top 10 high risk drugs that can cause harm and the specific risks related to each; highlights good practice in the safe use of medicine to ensure that errors do not occur and demonstrates the importance of reporting medication errors.
The National Access Programme – Ireland aims to disseminate the High Risk Medications e-Learning across the whole of Ireland and has been specifically designed to ensure that small community and county hospitals have equal access to this important training.
The High Risk Medications e-Learning is also available to all UK NHS Trusts and healthcare organisations. To evaluate the High Risk Medication e-Learning package please contact the Learning Industries Team.
